Tom Hiddleston Confirms Loki Isn’t In ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’
If you were hoping to see more ofTom Hiddlestonas Loki, better buy tickets for repeat showings ofThor: The Dark World, because the character won’t be inThe Avengers 2, akaAvengers: Age of Ultron. That might be implied by the title, which says that we’ll have a new nemesis for the Marvel Studios heroes to fight. And Joss Whedon has said there’s no real room for Loki in the team sequel.
But just in case you wanted an extra confirmation that the Marvel Universe is moving on to bigger, badder enemies, Hiddleston speaks up about Loki’s future, after the break.

[Loki’s] not in it. Here’s the thing: I don’t think there’s anything else Loki could contribute toThe Avengers, narratively. Joss gave me so many wonderful things to do in that first film that we’d only be trying to repeat ourselves, and probably less well in the second one.
He says he’s got plenty to do inThe Dark World, but explains that his absence in the Avengers sequel is a good thing and will invigorate the story:
When I think of all the things I loved as a child, for example, Hans Gruber wasn’t inDie Hard 2. And in Indiana Jones, by the time he moved from the Lost Ark to the Temple of Doom, there was a whole new bad guy. [Ed: even though Temple of Doom was an older bad guy, we’ll allow it.] I think keeping it fresh and new is good forThe Avengerseven though it’s a shame for me. And let’s face it, there’s seven or eight of them as it is, and Joss is thinking about adding two more, so the screen’s gonna be a busy place. But I had the time of my life on that film. It was the most fun ever."
