(* Figures from Wahlberg’s Christmas releaseThe Gamblerwere not included.)
The real winner of this list is Fox’sX-Menfranchise. Four of its stars made the top 10 list, includingJennifer Lawrenceat #1. Or maybe it’s the superhero genre as a whole.Mark WahlbergandAngelina Jolieare the only ones who made the top 10 without starring in a Marvel-based property.

Maybe the biggest surprise is how highEmma Stoneis ranked.Amazing Spider-Man 2grossed less thanX-Men: Days of Future Past,Guardians of the Galaxy, orCaptain America: The Winter Soldierdid, but her number was bolstered by the successes ofBirdmanandMagic in the Moonlight. It’s also nice to seeScarlett Johanssonsitting at #3 partly on the strength of original pics likeUnder the SkinandLucy.
Of the stars listed above, Lawrence looks likely to repeat next year on the strength ofThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2alone, though David O. Russell’sJoywill probably earn a decent chunk of change as well. Johansson andChris Evansmay be back forAvengers: Age of Ultron, and Pratt could return ifJurassic Worlddoes as well as hoped.

Forbesonly counted movies in which these actors were leads or co-leads, but the list would look a lot different if they includedallappearances including cameos. We know this becauseScreen Crush did just that earlier this month, and came up with a ranking that included Lawrence at #9 and Pratt at #11. But even there, Marvel came out on top. By the site’s count,Stan Leewas the highest grossing star of 2014, with cameos in four Marvel adaptations released this year.
