Steve Wozniak Reacts To ‘Steve Jobs’ Trailer: “I Felt A Lot Of The Real Jobs”
The world can, and has, discussed the accuracy oftheSteve Jobstrailerat length. But most of us only knew Jobs from his public appearances. Apple Inc. co-founderSteve Wozniakcan compareDanny Boyle’s upcoming biopic to the Jobs he knew in real life. So how does Wozniak thinkSteve Jobsmeasures up to the real Steve Jobs? Woz offered his two cents in an email toBloomberg. He claimed to like the trailer overall, and admitted that parts of it made him want to cry. He also professed to being “honored” to be played bySeth Rogen. And yes, he confirmed, he does plan to see the movie.
However, he disagreed with some of the specific details. In particular, he took issue with one scene in which his cinematic counterpart blasts Jobs (Michael Fassbender) for taking credit for other people’s work. “I don’t talk that way,” he said. “I would never accuse the graphical interface of being stolen. I never made comments to the effect that I had credit (genius) taken from me.”
Still, he was able to find some truth in Boyle’s vision of Jobs' story. “The lines I heard spoken were not things I would say but carried the right message, at least partly,” he said. “I felt a lot of the real Jobs in the trailer, although a bit exaggerated.” Besides, he conceded, “Accuracy is second to entertainment in a movie like this.”
As previously reported, Wozniak consulted withAaron Sorkinas he was writingSteve Jobs, which is based on the biography byWalter Isaacson. However, he said, he never saw the finished script. “I do not think that would be appropriate,” he explained. “It is the creative work of the producer and writer and actors and director and others.”
Wozniak previously weighed in onJobs, the 2013 indie starring Ashton Kutcher as the late tech guru, even engaging in atwo-hour discussionabout fact and fiction in the film. But he didn’t seem to be a fan of that one,sayinghe was “attentive and entertained but not greatly enough to recommend the movie.” Maybe he’ll likeSteve Jobsbetter.
