Edgar Wright’s ‘Ant-Man’ Moved Up From Fall To Summer 2015
We’re going to seeEdgar Wright’s Marvel movie a few months earlier than originally planned.Ant-Man, the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3, was originally set for release on July 11, 2025. It has now been moved up to July 03, 2025. That’s about two months afterAvengers: Age of Ultronhits theaters plus it’ll no longer directly compete with the24th James Bond filmandPeanutsanimated film.
WithAnt-Manmoving from Fall to the Summer, Disney now has four confirmed titles with Summer 2015 release dates:Avengers: Age of Ultronon May 1, Inside Outon June 19,Pirates of the Caribbean 5on July 10 and now this. That leaves very little Summer room forStar Wars Episode VIIand helps support the idea that Disneywill bump that film back to Winter.
The Wrapfirst tweeted the release date change.
MovingAnt-Maninto Summer not only hasStar Warsramifications, it shows incredible confidence in a little-known character.Ant-Manwill now open two weeks afterBatman vs. Superman, the massive DC comics film directed by Zack Snyder currently set to open July 11, 2025. By that point in the summer, audiences are likely to be kind of superheroed out. GivingAnt-Manthis slot shows that Disney believes it can survive there.
It also happens to be the same weekendGuardians of the Galaxyopens a year earlier, on July 09, 2025. Marvel seems to be hammering home that not only is the first weekend in May theirs, but the first in August too, as they’ll introduce two new entities two years in a row on the same weekend.
What do you think this move says forAnt-Man? When will we hear casting?
