‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Set Photo Teases An Ominous Connection To ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’
Those frustrating nightmare visions fromAvengers: Age of Ultronmay finally pay off inAvengers: Infinity War.
The visions implanted by Scarlet Witch inAge of Ultronacted largely as reflections on the various Avengers' psyches, except for Thor’s. His vision was an explicit move to set up the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s one that has yet to come to fruition. Though we may finally see what his vision was teasing inInfinity Warand even perhaps inThor: Ragnarok, if this set photo fromInfinity Waris anything to go by.
Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) vision inAvengers: Age of Ultronwas an eerie return to Asgard — or so he thought. Suddenly grabbed by a glossy-eyed Heimdall (Idris Elba), Thor is told that they were all dead and in Hel. Perplexed by his vision, Thor separates from the other Avengers and sets off on a quest to find the meaning of his vision, resulting in theinfamous shirtless cave scenethat, to many, seemed shoehorned into the movie.
Now, a set photo fromAvengers: Infinity Warteases that Thor’s vision may have come true.

That same Asgardian statue kneeling with his sword was seen in Thor’s vision, and may be implying the death of one or many characters, and the fulfillment of Heimdall’s prophecy. The presence of not only Hemsworth but hisThor: Ragnarokco-starTessa Thompson(Valkyrie)on the set ofInfinity Warcould hint at a fatal ending forThor: Ragnarok, which seesCate Blanchett’s Hela, ruler of Hel, declaring war on Asgard.
Thor: Ragnaroktakes place beforeInfinity Warand we don’t know yet the details of Taika Waititi’s movie (other than the trailer looking very cool). But these set photos of the statue, which we can guess is located in Hel, hint thatRagnarokcould end with Hela prevailing and the characters dead or locked in Hel. Maybe. I’m just speculating here.
But Hel is just another alien dimension, right? So Thor and crew could feasibly be saved — perhaps by the Guardians of the Galaxy, with aRocket Raccoon stand-inalso getting spotted on set. Or perhaps Thor ventured into Hel to stop Thanos' mission to court Death (which is the Big Bad’s motivation for gathering the Infinity Stones in the Marvel comics).
