A Series of Unfortunate Events Trailer
TheA Series of Unfortunate Eventsseems to do a pretty good job of capturing the source material’s darkly comedic tone, as well as its timeless Gothic vibe. Harris has his work cut out for him if he wants to live up to Jim Carrey’s performance in 2004’sA Series of Unfortunate Events, but he seems to be having a lot of fun in the role. And the supporting cast is lousy with great character actors includingAlfre Woodard(recently seen onanother, very different Netflix drama),Joan Cusack,Catherine O’Hara,Aasif Mandvi,Rhys Darby, andDon Johnson.
All eight episodes ofA Series of Unfortunate Eventswill hit Netflix onJanuary 13, 2017.Barry Sonnenfeld(who executive produced the 2004 movie) andDaniel Handler(who wrote the original books) serve as executive producers.
Dear Viewer,
If you are interested in a story with a happy ending, that story is streaming elsewhere. This story has no happy ending, no happy beginning, and very few happy things in the middle.
Based on the internationally best-selling series of books by Lemony Snicket (aka Daniel Handler) and starring Emmy and Tony Award winner Neil Patrick Harris, A Series of Unfortunate Events recounts the tragic tale of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus, and Sunny – whose evil guardian Count Olaf will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. The siblings must outsmart Olaf at every turn, foiling his many devious plans and disguises, in order to discover clues to their parents' mysterious death.
